ANSWERS:

Campylobacter jejuni (associated enteritis causes ~ 15 to 25% of Guillain-Barre Syndrome), mycoplasma, Epstein-Barr Virus, Cytomegalovirus, HIV
* Briefly, the clinical presentations of Gullain-Barre Syndrome: 
ascending, symmetric, rapidly progressive paralysis, ususally associated with areflexia, sensory system in mostly intact.

 

Candida infection (and other fungi) caused endophthalmitis
    * Clinical:  Pain and decreased vision
    * Diagnosis:  Aspirate for culture and sensitivity
    * Treatment:  Amphoteracin B

 

Need to rule out primary sclerosing cholongitis with ERCP.  (Classic ERCP appearances:  "beaded" patch dilatation and stricturing of the biliary tree).

 

Calcium Oxalate

 

Meckel's Diverticulum

 

Encephalopathy

 

Number one cause is Diabetes Mellitus

Hypertension

 

Hypothyroid
Acromegaly
Diabetes Mellitus

 

Acarbose results in DELAYED intestinal absorption of Carbohydrates and low peak postprandial blood glucose levels.
(inhibition of alpha-glucosidase)
