SURGERY AND HYPERTENSION

-It has been shown that a blood pressure of greater than or equal to 180/110 is associated with an increased risk for perioperative ischemic events.  A beta-blocker  that is beta 1 selective is indicated for perioperative hypertension in patients not previously treated with antihypertensive agents.
